Twenty-four people came together to create the Flemish American Club in 1933.
Today, membership continues a tradition built around friendship, recreation and community.
Although the Club was founded by Kewanee’s Flemish-speaking community, membership was opened to people of all nationalities in 1941.
You do not need a Flemish last name to belong. You only need an interest in being part of the Club and helping continue its traditions.
Why Join the Flemish American Club?
Membership in the Flemish American Club is about being part of an active, welcoming community and keeping a Kewanee tradition strong.
Members enjoy Club events and gatherings throughout the year, indoor and outdoor rolle bolle, darts and other recreation, affordable drinks at the bar, and special rates on hall rentals for weddings, reunions, parties and celebrations.
It’s a place to meet old friends, make new ones, enjoy time together and support the Club’s community activities for the next generation.
Membership is open to anyone age 21 and older.
Interested in joining? Stop by the Club or contact us for membership information.
Come for the events. Stay for the people
Membership dues do more than maintain a membership card.
Historically, dues have helped the Club support activities for members and provide space for school, civic and community events.
Your membership helps keep the Flemish American Club active today and helps preserve it for the next generation.
Host Your Next Event at the Flemish American Club. From weddings and quinceañeras to charity fundraisers, we welcome celebrations and gatherings of all sizes.
